Social Studies
Social Studies is the study of contemporary societal issues surrounding Singapore and the world. It has two components – Source Based Questions (SBQ) and Structured Response Questions (SRQ) – to test students’ understanding, critical thinking and evaluative skills. Social Studies is part of the compulsory Combined Humanities syllabus for O-Level students, which can make the difference between getting into one’s dream JC or Polytechnic course!
Many students perceive Social Studies to be a dull subject which is impossible to score in. Social Studies Mastery Classes with The Keen Learners help students score ‘A’s in examinations as they equip students with:
1) EFFECTIVE SKILL SETS & TECHNIQUES required to analyse and answer various question types.
2) CONCISE NOTES & CHEAT SHEETS to aid students in mastering the most important content to excel in examinations.
3) CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS through in-class discussions and deeper analysis of questions so that they are ready to answer any issues tested in examinations.
4) EXPOSURE to a wide variety of questions, including complex higher order questions to hone their answering techniques.

History (Pure and Elective)
History is an understandably difficult subject for many students due to the heavy content and memory work required to do well for the Structured Essay Questions (SEQ). In addition, students are also required to evaluate and analyse historical information while applying their historical knowledge in the Source Based Questions section (SBQ).
History Mastery Classes with The Keen Learners help students score ‘A’s in examinations as they equip students with:
1) EFFECTIVE SKILL SETS AND TECHNIQUES required to analyse and answer various question types.
2) CONCISE NOTES, CHEAT SHEETS AND PUBLISHED BOOKS to aid students in mastering the most important content to excel in examinations.
3) CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS through in-class discussions and deeper analysis of questions so that they are ready to answer any issues tested in examinations.
4) EXPOSURE to a wide variety of questions, including complex higher order questions to hone their answering techniques.
Chemistry and Physics (Pure and Combined)
The ‘O’ level Chemistry and Physics syllabuses aim to build key scientific concepts for students aspiring to undertake further studies in post-secondary chemistry and physics related STEM courses. In the Combined Science (Physics/Chemistry) syllabus, there is a need for students to develop a good understanding of Chemistry and Physics fundamentals, as the exams require students to be able to demonstrate understanding of the content through application. The Pure Science syllabuses underscores a need for students to build a robust scientific foundation and a strong grasp of key scientific concepts, as students will be required to assimilate novel information in the exams, and to handle and analyse data to support their conclusions.
At The Keen Learners, we aim to help our students build rock-solid foundations in the sciences! Our Mastery Classes will equip students with:
1) STRONG CONTENT KNOWLEDGE that forms a starting point for understanding how to answer common question types.
2) EFFECTIVE ANSWERING TECHNIQUES to gain the most marks out of every possible question.
3) CONCISE NOTES & CHEAT SHEETS to aid students in mastering the most important content to excel in examinations.
4) EXPOSURE to a wide variety of questions from multifarious sources, including higher-order questions to develop and hone valuable analytical and data handling skills.
E. Maths and A. Maths
Maths is seen by many students as difficult and tedious, but it does not have to be! Understandably, students do not see the practicality of algebra, trigonometry, or calculus in daily life, but the logical reasoning and analytical skills that are the foundation of maths are widely transferable to many areas of work in the future. Thus, the learning of maths serves a deeper purpose of helping students develop and refine these higher-order cognitive abilities, which they will be able to carry for life, and would also definitely be a stepping stone for any further STEM fields students might end up pursuing.
At The Keen Learners, we aim to help our students develop confidence and currency in maths! Our Mastery Classes will equip students with:
1) STRONG MATHEMATICAL FOUNDATIONS that form the bedrock for all areas of maths.
2) EFFECTIVE QUESTION SOLVING TECHNIQUES for the different topics and question types.
3) FORMULATING ANALYTICAL FRAMEWORKS to aid students tackling novel question types.
4) EXPOSURE to a wide variety of questions from multifarious sources, including higher-order questions to develop and hone valuable logical reasoning and analytical skills.
